Messages you can adapt in a minute
These are starting points, not scripts. Replace the bracketed parts, cut anything that does not sound like you, and keep every message shorter than you think it needs to be.
When to send each one
- Follow-up: roughly seven to ten business days after applying, once.
- Thank you: within a day of any interview, to each person you spoke with.
- Networking: any time, with a specific reason for reaching out to that person.
- Networking follow-up: about a week later, only if the first message went unanswered.
